Captain Jon Duffie

Captain Jon Duffie is a Maryland native who grew up fishing out of Ocean City, MD. As soon as he could walk, he began fishing offshore with his father on their family owned boat. When he was a teenager he began working as a mate with some of the most accomplished captains in the business. Throughout his twenties he ran various boats as well as the family owned boat, the BILLFISHER, and has become one of most competitive billfisherman on the east coast. He has fished up and down the entire east coast of the United States, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, and just about everywhere in between. He has navigated through the Panama Canal and has been crew on many yacht deliveries to foreign ports. The experience gained in these years of traveling have helped attribute to his tournament track record. He has won or placed in many tournaments over the years including being the top points boat and top captain in the White Marlin Open twice in his career. Tournament fishing is not his only passion, he also loves to share his vast knowledge of fishing and teach eager beginners.

Mate John Prather

John Prather, mate on the BILLFISHER, is also a MD native who has been fishing since childhood. Being a professional mate for the past 7 years, John has gained extensive knowledge about many styles of fishing from inshore to offshore using live or dead bait. Having traveled the east coast and on to the Bahamas and Mexico, he has encountereevery situation imaginable in the pit. He has handled everything from being "whammed" by tunas in the northeast canyons, to catching giant bluefins in the dead of winter in N.C., and releasing 30 billfish in a day off the Mexican coast. His calm and collected attitude helps keep things in the cockpit organized and flowing smoothly. He has numerous tournament wins under his belt, and is always eager to go the extra mile to make sure we have the competitive edge.
